Have you heard? Character Counts! 2016
Character Counts focuses on strengthening our students’ characters to help them become good citizens with strong values and healthy habits. It is open to Current and NON-Current students. We will choose one topic and give the kids a chart to complete. If they are able to complete the chart, they will earn a prize! The prize will vary every month, from a jiu-jitsu game day to a cash prize and everything in between.
For May 2016 the kids who come to class on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 or 730 pm will earn $10 if they complete the 30 points. The younger kids who get at least 30 points will qualify for our game day, where we will play fun games including obstacle courses. Who ever gets the most points out of each age group will also earn a Caique Jiu-Jitsu t-shirt, rash guard or sweatshirt!
For May 2016 we have chosen “Health”. We will distribute (or feel free to print) a chart with different ways that the student can demonstrate being a caring and honorable person. There are also blank slots where the parents can choose to write other ways that their child can demonstrate having healthy habits. For everyday that the kids complete each task, the parent will write an X on the appropriate box. Kids must have 30 points in order to earn the prize for that month. This is supposed to be challenging for them! If the chart includes things that they always do anyway and you feel they need to improve in other areas, feel free to scratch that off and write something else in its place. For example: for discipline the kids get an X for “Getting ready for school on time”, if your child does that anyway scratch that off and make them earn Xs on the things they need to improve in like Homework done on time, listen the 1st time and so on. Charts are due by May 31st.
Please let us know if you have any questions. This program is open to all kids 5 to 15 years old. Regardless of whether they are currently enrolled or not. Thank you for letting us share this wonderful part of your child’s journey with them. As always, we are honored.
